Magnus Carlsen and Ian Nepomniachtchi will face each other over the board.
The Altibox Norway Chess super tournament begins in Stavanger on the 7th of September. Six grandmasters will play in a double round-robin event, namely: the world champion Magnus Carlsen (2855, Norway), the challenger Ian Nepomniachtchi (2792, Russia), Richard Rapport (2760, Hungary), Sergey Karjakin (2758, Russia), Alireza Firouzja (2754, France), and Aryan Tari (2642, Norway).
Each of the 10 rounds consists of a classical game where a win is worth 3 points and a loss 0. If the players draw they play an Armageddon game, where the winner earns 1.5 points and the loser 1 point.
The match days: 7-10 and 12-17 September. The games start at 6 PM (Moscow time).
